Bo Sanchez is the youngest of six children of Eugenio Sr., and Pilar Sanchez.  In 1978, the Sanchezes brought Bo, then only 12 years old, to a prayer meeting where a leader prophesied that he would be speaking about God to thousands.

The prophecy began to be fulfilled when the Sanchezes started weekly prayer meetings at the garage of their home. Bo led the prayer meetings and subsequently founded the Light of Jesus Family, a faith community, in 1980.

The Light of Jesus now holds the Feast, which includes Holy Mass and lively worship led by Bro. Bo at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) every Sunday, starting at 8 a.m.. Other Feasts are held in key areas in the Philippines and abroad.

BO SANCHEZ LEADS KERYGMA CONFERENCE 2013: BE EMPOWERED

BRO. BO SANCHEZ, lay preacher and bestselling author, dubbed as “The Preacher in Blue Jeans,” leads the Kerygma Conference 2013 at the Philippine International Convention Center on November 21-22, 2013, and at the SMX Convention Center on November 23-24, 2013.

Kerygma, a Hebrew word meaning, “proclamation of the Gospel,” is also the name of the inspirational magazine that launched Bo Sanchez’s media ministry back in the 1980s. One-day live gatherings of Kerygma readers later evolved into the Kerygma Conference.

Keygma Conference is now on its seventh year of blessing people through passionate worship, God’s presence in the Eucharist, and life-changing talks. The theme for this year’s conference is “Be Empowered” — equipping its attendees with tools for victorious living.

Special guest plenary speakers include Fr. Erick Santos, head of the Federation of Transparochial Communities; Fr. Dave Concepcion, dean of the Holy Apostles Seminary; Andy Comiskey, founder of the Living Waters Healing Ministry; Josette Biyo, first Filipina to have a planet named after her; Most Rev. Bishop Jessie Mercado of Parañaque; and His Eminence Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, Archbishop of Manila, who will preside over the special Mass on the last day, November 24 at 12:30 p.m.

Renowned speakers for the classes include Anthony Pangilinan, Chief Disturber of Businessworks, Inc.; Tony Meloto, founder of Gawad Kalinga, Fr. Manoling Francisco, co-founder of the Bukas-Palad Ministry, Miriam Quiambao, Miss Universe 1st runner-up 1999; Atty. Alex Lacson, bestselling author and philanthropist; Rex Mendoza, President and CEO of Philam Life; the Kerygma Preachers of the Light of Jesus Family and more.

This year’s conference will be the biggest ever, with 4 days, 7 plenary talks, 20 streams, 63 classes to choose from, over 70 speakers and an estimated 20,000 participants. With these numbers, Kerygma Conference 2013 booms as the largest inspirational learning event in the country today.

Bro. Bo opens the Kerygma Conference plenary sessions on November 21 and 22 with classes that cater to church workers and faith community leaders, servants and members such. Topics will include preaching, worship, church systems and the various aspects of community life.

Classes on November 23, Saturday, are about practical living. Participants may choose to attend different talks on business, career, education, leadership, faith, prayer, health and wellness.

On November 24, Sunday, classes will cater to different age groups and states of life — married, single, youth, single parents, single blessedness and even children. An upbeat Worship Concert caps Kerygma Conference at 5:00 p.m.

Shepherd’s Voice Radio and Television Foundation, Inc. (SVRTV), the media arm of the Light of Jesus Family, leads the production of the conference.

Tickets are now available at the Feast — the weekly prayer gathering of Bo Sanchez at PICC — and online at http://www.kerygmaconference.com. Call 725-9999 for details.

Proceeds will go to the various outreach programs of the Light of Jesus Family that minister to street children, abandoned elderly, orphans, pregnant women in crisis, and victims of sexual abuse.

SSS widens reach of Bohol satellite offices

As part of ongoing efforts to help members affected by the 7.2 magnitude earthquake that hit Central Visayas, the Social Security System (SSS) opened temporary satellite offices at the towns of Tubigon and Carmen, two of the hardest-hit areas in Bohol province.

SSS Officer-in-Charge Edgar Solilapsi said the new temporary satellite offices are vital additions to the agency’s network of offices in the province, which at present also includes the SSS Tagbilaran Branch and SSS Service Offices at the municipal halls of Ubay and Talibon.

“These temporary satellite offices shall operate until April 30, 2014, or until such time that their services are no longer needed as Bohol fully recovers from the disaster,” Solilapsi said. “In the meantime, we will continue to identify other locations for similar offices to make SSS services more accessible to members, especially during this time of need.”

The pension fund is anticipating the surge in applications for the SSS Calamity Relief Package for the earthquake-hit provinces of Bohol and Cebu. To further assist its affected members and pensioners, the SSS extended the initial November 29, 2013 deadline of the relief package’s special salary loan terms and the three-month advance pensions to April 30, 2014.

“The homes of Bohol and Cebu residents are among the valuable structures damaged by the recent earthquake, which was why the SSS eased down the terms of our House Repair and Improvement Loan Program as part of the Calamity Relief Package,” Solilapsi noted.

Under the relief package, the maximum annual interest rate of nine percent was fixed at six percent for home repairs of members residing in the declared calamity areas. The SSS also waived the regular processing fee of up to P3,000, and gave members one year to apply for the special home repair loan facility.

Solilapsi said the SSS has resumed full branch operations at SSS Tagbilaran and SSS Cebu last Monday, October 21, after both offices were assessed as “structurally safe” by building engineers. These two branches will also remain open every Saturday starting October 26, similar to the new schedule to be observed by all SSS branches nationwide.

“With the SSS Tagibilaran branch now fully operational, we closed down the temporary satellite offices at the Governor’s Mansion and at the Agricultural Promotional Center, which are also in the same city, to prioritize the setting up of satellite offices in remote areas in Bohol,” he added.

The SSS has also ceased operations of its satellite offices in Gaisano Fiesta Mall in Tabunok, Talisay City; Gaisano Island Mall in Lapu-Lapu City; Talisay City Hall and the DTI-National Economic Research and Business Assistance Center that were opened last week on a temporary basis to ensure members’ uninterrupted access to SSS services.

Apart from the SSS Cebu branch, members in the area can also transact with the SSS Service Office at the Robinsons Fuente Mall, which is open from Tuesdays to Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Bohol-based SSS Service Offices in Ubay and Talibon accept members’ queries and transactions on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
